The Tacoma Pierce County Big Band was formed in May 3, 2008 by a group of amateur musicians who were looking for a place to play jazz, blues, and big band music.
Based in Parkland, Washington the band plays a wide variety of music and styles, ranging from the great big bands of the 30's and 40's, including Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Gene Krupa, and Artie Shaw And Glenn Miller, to the later works of the Count Basie Orchestra. In addition, the band plays jazz, blues, jazz-rock, and standards from modern arrangers like Sammy Nestico, Dave Wolpe, Dave Barduhn, Jeff Hest, Bob Lowden and Henry Mancini.
Band members range in age from 16 to 80, from high school/college students to retirees. Depending on player availability, we usually have between 12 and 18 members at a gig. We play 18 to 20 gigs a year, typically at retirement home functions, charity fund raisers, weddings, and fairs.
We rehearse Wednesday from 6:00pm - 8:00pm.
Our rehearsal site is located at
1117 120th Street South, Parkland ,WA 98444
